kidney stones. Kidneys remove waste materials from our body with urine. Sometimes different minerals mix with salt to form a hard substance in the kidney, which we call kidney stones. These stones can be as small as a grain of salt or sometimes as large as a ping-pong ball. We do not easily realize the presence of this stone until it hits our urethra and causes pain due to its narrowing.

Symptoms of kidney stones:

1. Experiencing severe pain in the back, abdomen or joint of the two legs.
2. Frequent urination and pain during urination.
3. Blood in urine.
4. Nausea or vomiting.
Sudden pain in the stomach or back or pain during urination is not a symptom of kidney stones, but in these cases it is necessary to consult a doctor, because it may be a sign of a serious disease.

Some general advice:
It is not correct to think that surgery is necessary only if there are kidney stones. If caught in small form, it is possible to get rid of this problem by taking pain killers as advised by the doctor and drinking enough water, as small stones are usually passed out with urine.

It is important to remember that drinking 8-10 glasses of pure water daily helps flush out waste products from the body with adequate urine and reduces the risk and complications of kidney stones.

Generally, kidney stones can be treated in two ways.

If the stone is small, then by drinking plenty of water, the kidney stone is slowly passed out with the urine.

If the kidney stone is too big, it has to be removed through surgery. Nowadays many modern technologies or equipments have been invented through which stones can be removed without cutting the abdomen.
